Papers, 1861-1868.

These papers are largely letters of Confederate soldiers. It appears that John F. Jarrett was inducted around September 10, 1864, and by October 4 of the same year, he was at the General Hospital in Staunton, Va. He is not listed in Moore's ROSTER OF N.C. TROOPS, but may have been in the 32nd Va. Regiment. Other soldier correspondents are W.R. Mobley and W.D. Jarrett of Companies G and H, respectively, of the 45th N.C. Regiment of Infantry (these soldiers are listed in Moore's ROSTER), C.W. Mobley, W.D. Wall, and Wm. P. Jarrett. Most of their letters were written from Virginia. The Mobleys were brothers-in-law of John F. Jarrett. There are also a few letters from Mrs. John F. Jarrett and other civilians.
